After
pregnancy, the most noticeable changes are in the abdominal area of the
female body. It is no surprise since for the last 9 months this space
was occupied by the future baby. Unfortunately this causes excessive,
often wrinkled skin in this area. The only solution in this case is a
tummy tuck procedure, called abdominoplasty. It provides the patient
with highly satisfactory results, especially with patients who have
weakened muscles and sagging skin in this area. The effect is even
better when supported with proper diet and a reasonable amount of
physical therapy. The only reminder of the procedure is a scar going
across the lower abdomen, under the hip line. The scar is permanent,
however the surgeon can place it so that it is well hidden under a
swimming garment, underwear or in the “old” scar after a caesarian
section. In some cases the abdominoplasty is performed simultaneously
with a liposuction procedure for a better result. Each case is
discussed individually with the surgeon. Any problems after such
procedure are very rare. Just after the procedure, the swelling might
cause certain irregularities of the skin which gradually disappear
along with the swelling. If the patient understands every side of the
procedure's effects and actively participates in a recovery program the
effect of the procedure is truly satisfactory.
